The Disarmament and International Security Committee has passed a resolution, originally submitted by France, which attempts to answer the question of the illegal exchange of guns in Latin American nations.

DISEC’s solution recommends the creation of a Latin & Central American United Nations Police Force division, which would give local law enforcement extra experience and training for greater threats they are exposed to due to the trade of weapons, as well as strengthening border security. Also, the resolution encourages decreasing ammunition imports into Latin American nations, which would in turn decrease illegal weapon trades.
