The Economic and Social Committee has just passed a resolution originally submitted by Germany which attempts to reduce religious tensions in Europe and North America. In this resolution, the committee calls for severe religious discrimination to be treated as a human rights violation to protect the rights and beliefs of minority religions. A new UN campaign, known as UNite, would be established, which would educate people on the importance of religious freedom of expression and create a safe space for religious minorities to share their experiences and be respected.
