ECOSOC Passes Resolution to Limit Food Wastage Worldwide

This afternoon, ECOSOC passed a resolution to help limit the amount of food wastage in countries worldwide. The resolution, originally submitted by the United States, acknowledged the massive amount of food wasted globally and attempted to rectify this situation by introducing solutions. First, the resolution asked that countries donate leftover food to the impoverished in their society, and change the agriculture and business practices by those who produce food. The resolution also called for society to be marketed towards buying and consuming food from smaller companies, rather than larger, worldwide, corporations.
